End of Summer- Beginning of Fall update

I admit I have been MIA. But here's an update on what's been happening in our lives!!

Work still seems to consume both of our lives. But we still are LOVING both of our jobs. Dan has loved running his own store and making his own hours. We have already received (2) pretty large bonuses through his job which is AWESOME, and has gone directly into our "House Savings."

 I on the other hand have been learning new things @ the Dermatologist office that I have never done before. Doing LOTS of surgeries, skin grafts, and cosmetic stuff. Just all around really enjoying myself- and the larger paychecks :)

 I don't know why but it makes me nervous every time I assist. eeeek! Hopefully this feeling goes away fast, seeing as we do this once a month. I will tell you one thing- I NEVER want skin cancer after seeing and assisting in this process. So wear your SPF people!!

We resigned our current lease for another year. I am happy not to be moving again. I HATE MOVING! Next move will hopefully be a house. Although, after we resigned our lease I feel like our apt is falling apart. 

* garbage disposal started leaking

* closet doors started to break

* sliding glass door handle breaking off

* drawer in kitchen keeps falling off track

* etc. etc. etc.

Tis the season...for weddings!!

 We took a road trip down to Indiana over Labor day weekend for Tim and Kelly's wedding. We stayed 2 nights in a hotel which ended up costing us $150 a night!!! But we had a good time getting away and seeing good friends tie the knot. Their wedding was gorgeous and I am happy they moved back to Michigan and are only living about 30-40 min away.

A wedding can't get much better than that.

Other than that we are enjoying the beginning of fall. I am excited to wear my uggs once again and sweatshirts...and dare I say it- LOOKING FORWARD TO SNOW! I most likely will regret this comment, good thing we still have a while until that season.

I also bought a new watch @ Kohls. 

I love this new style of watches going on! I figured I better cash in on the 50% off sale going on and FINALLY buy a watch. I don't like to keep my phone on me while I'm @ work because I'm in/out of patient rooms, assisting in surgeries, etc. I just always feel like its going to fall out of my pocket and I don't think it looks very good professionally always checking your phone- even if its just for the time. So now I have a watch!

 We are also saving for our very first home!! :-) :-)

Well we have been for a while, but we a nearing our goal.

Our lease isn't over until July 1st, 2012--- SO...

By next summer we will be homeowners!!!! (hopefully)

We will be looking in the Rochester/Shelby/maybe Troy area.

I feel I am going to be very picky when it comes to house hunting. 

I think I should be if we're going to be investing so much money into something! 

I am so excited in this new chapter beginning soon in our lives I can barely contain myself. 

4 years ago...

My best friend was here with me on this earth. 

I never knew he could of touched my heart the way he did.

He was everything to me and could brighten my day up with just a smile.

He taught me how to love and be loved in return.

Through him I met my husband Daniel.

Dave Wendt meant the world to me, and he still does. 

Some say time makes it easier, and its true to a certain degree, but I still feel the same pain in my heart that I did that day we found out the news that he would never be coming home. 

Time just makes it easier to live with that pain- but it never goes away. 

Today is his birthday and he would of been 24. I wanted to post something to celebrate his life because he was such an amazing person and he touched so many lives. He changed my life forever and I believe he made me a better person.

Over July 4th we kept it  -simple-

A couple days before we spent the night out with friends watching the Rochester Fireworks 

I have never really stuck around home for the 4th (always headed north) and I must say it wasn't so bad. I was surprised to see the firework shows weren't too shabby. 

After we went to some hole in the wall bar and played some pool.

On the actual "4th" we went to Dan's parents house for dinner and watched the fireworks from their backyard over the lake. Sorry no pictures that night- but dinner was super good and now I know they have a really good house for fireworks. :-)

I am excited to be back in Derm and be in a office where I will also learn-and-assist in a few new things

What a GREAT day!

A LOT HAS CHANGED

1.) I currently no longer work at Beaumont Hospital

2.) Daniel received a promotion and now has his OWN store!!

3.) I am receiving my associates in science and no longer pursuing nursing

1.) I currently no longer work at Beaumont Hospital

I resigned this past week from Beaumont Hospital. After giving this decision much thought and prayer I realized the hospital setting is not the place for me. I am so grateful for nursing assistants and they work their BUTTS off! They are amazing individuals. After only 6 weeks I was experiencing a lot of back pain from assisting critically ill patients. I also learned that as much as I "thought" I was going to love 12-hr shifts- I did not. It wasn't so much the length of the shifts it was more working them all in a row. It was very difficult coming home knowing I almost immediately needed to go to bed or else I wouldn't get enough sleep. I also really missed the medical office setting- building relationships with patients- and having normal working hours and paid holidays OFF. I am happy I gained the experience of working in a hospital but I am also happy to announce...

I am now the newest employee of Academic Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery Center! :-)

I start Monday as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

2.) Daniel received a promotion and now has his OWN store!!

We have waited and prayed, and waited, and waited but it is finally official- Dan received a PROMOTION and is now store manager of Vitamin World!! We are super excited and I could not be more proud of him and how hard he has worked. 

3.) I am receiving my degree in science and no longer pursuing nursing

I have struggled with this decision for a long time. I have been constantly back and forth and then back again. 

I am no longer pursuing my degree in nursing instead I am finishing up my few classes I need for my associates in science and continuing my employment as a Medical Assistant in a specialty office. There are many reasons I have made this decision and I finally feel at peace about  it. I am excited to be a wife again and in the next few years be a mother. I am also excited to move on to the next chapter in my life and finally start the search for our very first house this next year!!
