New Look.

I finally got my butt to the hair salon.
Now, for those of you who don't know...I HATE getting my hair done.
It's such a process! Because I have SO MUCH hair & I get color and cut at the same time it takes fooooooorevvvvvvvvver!

Plus
I never like the way they style it.
EVER.
Doesn't matter who it is, how great they are, how well they know me...I just don't like it.

I am the person who says they LOVE it and as soon as I get home I restyle the whole thing.
Sometimes I re-shower just to do my hair over (even though I know you're not supposed to after getting color).

But I sucked it up and went. finally.

&& I went LIGHTER and SHORTER :-)

(Sorry for the dirty mirror! Saturday is cleaning day...bah oh well.)

 Closer view of the color

I feel like a blonde!! :-)

What have we been up to lately?

In A NuTsHeLL

Packing...

Sleeping...

Lounging around in the husband's sweatshirt...

Piston's Game...

&& Stressing over house stuff.

We finally had our family room and basement measured for carpet and a official quote given this week. We are hoping to submit our appliance and carpet quotes this next week and receive a official closing date soon after!

That's it!
Nothing too exciting.
I am guessing for the next (6) months our LIFE will revolve around this house.
& to be honest, I'm pretty excited about it!

Mirrored Closets

In our Master Bedroom there are Mirrored Closets (see below)

I am truly not a fan.
To me it looks outdated.
So I have been thinking for a few weeks what we can do that is inexpensive,
well I finally came across an idea on pinterest!

Ta Da!
CURTAINS!

Instead of ripping them out and buy new closet doors we can use curtains! Preferably something sheer and white. We can open them up when we want to look in the mirror OR keep them closed. (see below)

 The mirrors do make the room appear bigger so leaving one mirror stand out would be nice.

Thank You Pinterest!

House knowledge I DON'T know

Inspection Day
January 19, 2012

Let me start off by saying our inspection went AWESOME! No major problems, everything is working, & no mold. JUST ONE BIG, EMPTY, DIRTY HOUSE. yay!

It was so nice to be in our house again. It was nice to be able to start mentally "planning" decor ideas, furniture placement, and just imagining all the memories we will make. Such a awesome feeling.

I felt kinda like a ding when the inspector was reporting to us at the end. Half the things he talked about I had NO CLUE what he was even saying. Luckily my parents were there &&& he supplied us with a handy-dandy blue notebook full of our inspection report and a home "book" that explains all things home to us.

 BUT things definitely got real today.  We paid our $1000 EMD (See definition here) and our inspection fee of $275. Just knowing that in the next few weeks we will have to pay our down payment and sign our life away kinda makes me nauseous.

Oh dear.

Here are a few pictures of the house
(we were so busy talking to our realtor, my parents, my brother, and inspector to remember to take more. oops! Hopefully this next month flies by so we can move in and start posting more for everyone!)

Don't mind Dan's thumb

Field Trip to Home Depot

Half Bath Idea:

We went to Home Depot this weekend & I picked out some colors for the house

The whole interior will probably be one uniform color, something neutral, probably in the Tans category to start off with-

ALL EXCEPT

the half bath on the main floor.

Colors Below:

I was inspired by this bathroom on pinterest & hopefully this will be the end result!

We also chose the exterior colors:

I love the way the color scheme looks,
See Below:

Though, our house DOES NOT look like this. The colors just look so clean and traditional. I LOVE it.

&& THEN
there were the appliances...

Our fridge will most likely look like this.
We haven't decided whether or not to get the water/ice dispenser because it tacks on about $1000 bucks. We will see, but I love the freezer at the bottom!

We really liked the look and extras this washer & dryer had to offer. AND I AM SO EXCITED TO FINALLY HAVE MY OWN SET & NOT SHARE!! Like our current situation with a community laundry room in our apt building.

As far as carpet and stove I am clueless. My mom and I are going out this next Tuesday to get some official quotes on everything.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Excited!

Easiest Backsplash Ever- No Really.

I saw this on DIY network a couple days ago & thought it was the coolest idea ever!

The network now sells DIY backsplash for kitchens/bathrooms or wherever else you choose to place it.

It LITERATLY is a peel & stick- SO EASY!

I am going to purchase some when we get a house.

Watch to see how it's done:::::

Blogging = Moolah

So I had started this blog in hopes of keeping in touch with friends & family while also documenting the things I enjoy doing. It turns out this could be a great side gig!

 I now have companies advertising on my site which = moolah $$$

(see right side bar and middle of page)

Awesome!

I really envy some of these blogger's that are able to make this their full-time jobs. What an awesome job to have!

Here's to hoping. :-)

House #5

I know, I know what I said- NO MORE POSTING ABOUT HOUSES!!
BUT
I feel I should still update you on the houses we look at BUT not the ones we make an offer on, because then I feel like we are just jinxing ourselves...
So welcome HOUSE #5

House #5 (don't mind the outside paint-job)

we would probably stick with a taupe, white, and black color scheme

Taupe for aluminum exterior

Black for shutters

White for theTrim

House #5
Is a 1967 colonial located in Lake Orion
It is in a established subdivision with a HUGE lake around the corner
There are beach and boat privileges for all homeowners in the sub
Approx 1900sq ft
4 bedroom
2.5 bath
hardwood throughout
finished basement

Guest bathroom- 2nd floor

Another view of the guest bath

View of the eat in kitchen from the family room

Family room with a stone fireplace

Kitchen- that's right, GRANITE!! :-)

Back of the house ( I don't know what they were thinking with green)

 "Master Bath"
*small small small- at least it's attached to the master bedroom,
probably would make at least the shower nice and open and look something like:

Master Bedroom
* not digging the mirrored closets, probably would try and make a walk-in closet or double door
i.e.

Another view of Master

Dining Room

1/2 bath- 1st floor

Worth The Money

I have been on the search for awhile for two QUALITY items-- towels for our bathroom & bed linens.

I have noticed how fast these show there use and I refuse to have scratchy thin bath towels and rough so-so bed linens. Why would you want something average when you use it EVERYDAY!! I feel buying something at the store that doesn't deliver quality is just wasting your money. You end up spending more in the long run replacing things
 and
getting what you really wanted to begin with.

I was with my mom @ POTTERY BARN (LOVE THAT PLACE!!) & I found EXCELLENT quality brands of each! They deliver quality while not being too unreasonably priced.

BATH TOWELS:::

I choose a blue-ish green-ish color to pair with our ALL white towels with hopes of our master bath eventually feels "spa-like."
They are so thick and fluffy!

&&&

BED LINENS:::

All white goes with everything!! & I never realized how bad my bed linens were until I slept on these. 400 thread count is for sure the way to go- never felt softer.

So if you're contemplating savings on these items-- DON'T! You will regret it.

Speaking about bed linens I also just purchased a new duvet cover and pillow shams for our bed:

 I have really been digging the blues & greens lately.

Here's to amping up my home decor while waiting for my dream house to appear...
